Avalon Bay Opens Addition to Successful Glen Cove Project
On June 28th, 2007, representatives of AvalonBay Communities, the City of Glen Cove, and local business and civic organizations joined together to celebrate the opening of a new AvalonBay apartment complex, Avalon Glen Cove North, on Glen Street in downtown Glen Cove. This project follows a similar one built in the area in 2004.
The development demonstrates principles of Smart Growth, such as having attractive, high-density, multi-family housing units, with a short setback from the sidewalk, within walking distance of shops and amenities in a downtown setting. It is not only convenient for the new residents, but it also greatly benefits the local businesses and the economy. It is also near an LIRR train station, giving residents easy access to the rest of the region without having to rely solely on their cars.
