Stay Safe out there Long Island!

As if you needed reminding, Long Island recently received the brunt of Hurricane Sandy's damaging winds and storm surge, causing numerous trees to come down while lower-lying areas were flooded, and rendering over 90% of LIPA's customers without service. As we pick ourselves up and begin to clean up the mess it's important to remember that you're not alone and that everyone could use a helping hand to recover from the disaster.

As part of an effort to help those without electricity, Vision has spent the morning contacting people across Long Island looking for any downtown that still has power. Below is a list of the downtowns we were able to identify along with emergency links. that still have power in case anyone was still looking for a place to charge phones, some take-out, or even just a place with heat so you can warm up for a little while. Keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive and only what we were able to find out via word-of-mouth.

Just remember to stay safe on the roads and be extra aware as there are still downed trees and some traffic lights still out.
