Dear members of the Long Island Smart Growth Working Group,

Given the regional and community impact from Hurricane Sandy, we have postponed the upcoming meetings of the LI Smart Growth Working Group for the NYSERDA Cleaner Greener Communities Long Island project. Please note the schedule change. Please attend and learn about this important initiative. We will continue to be joined by members of the Clean Energy Leadership Task Force, Long Island municipalities and other community and regional stakeholders.

Sincerely,

Eric Alexander, Vision Long Island

A coalition of Long Island counties, towns and organizations has received a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to create a regional sustainable growth strategy as part of the Cleaner, Green Communities program announced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in his 2011 State of the State address.

The development of a comprehensive regional sustainability plan is the first stage of the Cleaner, Greener Communities program and is intended to provide resources that each New York State region can use to develop its own vision, goals and objectives for a sustainable future, identify actions needed to achieve that future and outline metrics to measure success. The second stage provides up to $90 million toward regional projects that support the regional sustainability goals identified during the planning process. Phase II is expected to launch in the spring of 2013.

To RSVP, please contact Vision Long Island at 631-261-0242 or email info@visionlongisland.org or the Sustainability Institute at si@molloy.edu.
