The 2012 Smart Growth Summit:
“Rebuilding Long Island: Climate Change, Infrastructure
and our Downtowns”

Friday, November 16th
8:00am to 4:00pm - Melville Marriott

Dear Smart Growth Supporter,

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy the 11th Annual Smart Growth Summit will focus on climate change and infrastructure investments in energy, transportation, wastewater and best practices to plan and rebuild our downtowns and local communities. The event will feature networking, a trade show, workshops, a youth summit and plenary sessions on regional and local issues facing our region’s infrastructure and redevelopment. Last year’s event drew over 1,000 civics, chambers, developers, environmentalists, design professionals, academics, not-for-profits, young people and federal, state, county, town and village officials from Long Island and the region. Let’s all pull together to help rebuild our region and local communities!

We will be holding a food drive for Island Harvest at the 2012 Smart Growth Summit for Hurricane Sandy victims.

Island Harvest is a local food bank that has been working tirelessly to bring relief to victims of Hurricane Sandy. As part of their efforts we are proud to announce that they will be collecting items to donate to those who need it the most.

Donated items should include:

  • "Pop-top" cans of food
  • Shelf Stable Milk
  • Juice
  • Water
  • Low sodium canned vegetables
  • Soups and Fruit
  • Canned Meat
  • Whole Wheat Pasta
  • Cereal
  • Nutritional Beverages (i.e. Boost & Ensure)
  • Personal care items (i.e. cleaning supplies, everyday household items, diapers and other child care items)

Vision encourages you to bring as much as you can to the event!

Featured speakers include:
