Brookhaven Town will host a free public event featuring renowned landscape planner, site designer, and advocate of "conservation planning", Randall Arendt at the Town of Brookhaven 2030 Land Use Plan Charrette on Friday October 17.

Mr. Arendt will give two half hour presentations, entitled "Conservation Subdivision Design as a Tool for Building Community-wide Open Space Networks" and "Reclaiming the Commercial Strip; Towards a More Sustainable Future for our Gateway Approaches."  Mr. Arendt has designed conservation subdivisions, which are considered "twice green" because they succeed both environmentally and economically, in more than 20 states.  His work has been featured in numerous publications included those of the American Planning Association, American Society of Landscape Architects, and the National Association of Home Builders. He is the author of more than 20 publications including Rural by Design: Maintaining Small Town Character.
 
The presentation will be at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill, Farmingville beginning at 7 p.m.  Admission is free, but pre-registration is requested.
