Verizon Communications Presents $15,000 Technology Grant to Vision Long Island

On November 17th, 2006, Verizon Communications presented Vision Long Island with a $15,000 technology grant at Vision’s 5th Annual Smart Growth Summit, held at the Huntington Town House. Verizon’s Susan Beyer Hayes presented the grant to the organization in order to facilitate improved community outreach efforts.
“It is this type of corporate leadership that will make the Smart Growth movement a success on Long Island” stated Eric Alexander, Executive Director of Vision Long Island, “Verizon’s support allows us to continue our community education and project implementation efforts in neighborhoods across Long Island.”
Over 700 business, government, civic and environmental leaders came together for the 5th Annual Smart Growth Summit. The core of the Summit is diverse and informative sessions examining the full gamut of issues affecting and impacted by land use decisions, with topics ranging from sewer districts, affordable housing, to transit-oriented development. This year’s event saw 15 work sessions featuring 70 presenters resulting in 10 major policy recommendations.
