Press Release

 SHOREHAM CIVIC ORGANIZATION

P.O. Box 944

Shoreham, NY 11786

June 26, 2006

Dear Resident,

The Shoreham Civic Organization strongly encourages the participation of all residents and business people in the Shoreham-Wading River School District in the planning process to help define the preferences of the community concerning future development at the DeLalio Sod Farm and Tall Grass Golf Course.

We now have a unique opportunity to debate our options and to participate in the design process.  Vision Long Island, an independent organization with considerable experience hosting similar community meetings on Long Island, will facilitate a planning meeting, called a charrette, on Saturday, July 15 at the North Shore Public Library.  The scope, types of land use, site plan layout, kinds of recreational space, even architectural codes – all will be up for discussion.

The Shoreham Civic endorses this process, which we have been requesting for over two years.  It will be creative and contentious, and it will require hard work, serious thinking and compromise, but it will be worth the effort.  This is our chance to act, not just to react.  We call on the entire community to join in fashioning the future of our area.

Sincerely,

Mary L. Daum

President
